ANNOUNCEMENT OF JUDICIAL VACANCIES

Commonwealth Court

As a result of a resignation, there is one vacancy on the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania. Governor Tom Wolf invites all persons interested in being considered for an interim appointment to the position of Judge of the Commonwealth Court to obtain and submit an application (“Questionnaire for Commonwealth Court Applicants”) that can be found in the Application section below. The application period for appointment to the position of Judge of the Commonwealth Court has ended.

Magisterial District Judge

As a result of elections and recently announced resignations there are several vacancies on the Courts of Common Pleas as well as vacancies on the Magisterial District Courts. Accordingly, Governor Tom Wolf invites all persons interested in being considered for an interim appointment to obtain and submit an application (“Questionnaire for Local Judicial Applicants”) that can be found in the Application section below.

Application

        Commonwealth Court Judge

In order to be considered for an interim appointment to the Commonwealth Court, please download and complete the Questionnaire for Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth Court Applicants available here. Applicants must be residents of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for at least one year and a member of the Pennsylvania bar.

The application period for appointment to the position of Judge of the Commonwealth Court has ended.The Governor’s Judicial Advisory Commission will conduct a thorough screening of the applicant and will conduct interviews as appropriate.

        Court of Common Pleas Judge or Magisterial District Judge

In order to be considered for an interim appointment to a judicial position on the Court of Common Pleas or a Magisterial 
District Court please download and complete the Questionnaire for Local Judicial Applicants available here

The Questionnaire must be completed in its entirety in Microsoft® Word or PDF format and returned by email to PA-JudicialSelectionApplication@pa.gov, no later than 11:59 pm, Eastern Daylight Time, on the deadlines assigned to each district above. Please indicate whether you are applying for a vacancy on the Court of Common Pleas (identifying the County) or Magisterial District Judge (identifying the Magisterial District). 

In order to be eligible for appointment, applicants to the Court of Common Pleas vacancies must have resided in the relevant county for one year and be an attorney admitted to the Pennsylvania bar. Applicants to Magisterial District Judge positions must have resided in the magisterial district for a one-year period and become certified as a District Judge by the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts or be an attorney admitted to the Pennsylvania bar.
